Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to take full ownership of the End Effector subsystem in next-generation autonomous robots. This is a hands-on generalist role at a fast-moving robotics company building systems for AI data center infrastructure. You will drive mechanical designs from first principles through fabrication, assembly, and validation while collaborating closely with software and electrical teams.

Essential Functions

  • Own the End Effector subsystem end-to-end including design, analysis, fabrication, assembly, and validation
  • Integrate electromechanical systems with sensing, load cells, and precision linear motion components under tight tolerances
  • Perform FEA, hand calculations, and trade studies to drive design decisions and mitigate risk
  • Collaborate closely with software and electrical engineering teams to align on sensing and control requirements
  • Work hands-on in an in-house machine shop using steel and aluminum to rapidly iterate hardware

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of mechanical design experience in robotics, aerospace, or automotive applications
  • 1+ years specifically designing precision electromechanical systems
  • Strong background in structural analysis using FEA and hand calculations
  • Proficiency creating detailed designs and drawings with GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis
  • Hands-on experience with CNC machining and fabrication processes
  • Ability to work on-site in San Francisco 5 days per week

Technical Skills

  • SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software
  • ANSYS or equivalent FEA tools
  • Hand calculations for structural and mechanical systems
  • GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis
  • CNC machining and manual machining techniques
  • Precision linear motion components and integration
  • Electromechanical system design and assembly
  • Load cell and sensing integration

Education & Certifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required. Advanced degree preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range is $125000 to $170000 annually depending on experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, on-site direct hire opportunity with significant autonomy and decision-making responsibility in a high-impact role.
